New Better Arguments Project’s Resources
November 17, 2020
The Better Arguments Project is proud to share new resources that are designed to help Americans bridge divides, not by papering over them, but by exploring them more honestly together. Learn more about what it means to have a “Better Argument” — and how you can put our principles into practice — by attending one of their free trainings. Consider joining a Better Argument or hosting your own using their new toolkits.
Explore the new opportunities below and let them know how you would like to #ArgueBetter. For questions and collaborations, feel free to reach them directly at betterarguments@
Better Arguments Trainings
Their trainings will help concerned citizens of all types—from business leaders to educators to community leaders—become more effective changemakers. By attending a training, you will become fluent in their 5 Principles of a Better Argument, and you will learn how to put these principles into practice in your own communities and contexts. Register here for a free training with the Better Arguments team. |
Liberty and Equality
The push-pull between liberty and equality manifests in all kinds of ways — from discussions on the economy to freedom of speech to gun laws, to name just a few. Many of today’s most heated political debates relate to which ideal should be prioritized, or how to strike the right balance between liberty and equality. Host a Better Argument on liberty and equality using our toolkit.
Voter ID Laws
Today, one of the most significant debates around voting rights relates to voter identification laws. Proponents argue that voter ID laws can instill confidence in our democratic system by limiting voter fraud. Meanwhile, opponents say that voter ID laws place an undue burden on voters and reduce participation. Ideally, elections are both secure and accessible, and voter ID laws are one of many ways that the tension between security and access plays out. Host a Better Argument on voter ID using our toolkit.
Tech Boom Tensions
The creation of a robust, local tech economy — and the attraction of the high-wage earners who work in it — can be transformative for a local economy. But others wonder how their community will ensure equitable access to these new opportunities. High-tech economic gains may be real, but are the spoils enjoyed by all? Host a Better Argument on tech boom tensions using our toolkit.
