Progress Dashboard

Where have we been?

Where have we been?

Where are we now?

Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3

Phase 1 (2016)

We recruited stakeholders to analyze the problem, created a beginning set of system elements, and began considering a framework for a Detroit community development system.

Phase 2 (2017-2018)

We formed an Advisory Council, conducted extensive research resulting in a specific set of challenges and created Task Forces to respond to those challenges and develop test-projects for most of the elements.

Phase 3 (2019-2020)

Stakeholders will champion elements of the system, working closely with CDOs and GROs, by “test-piloting” project ideas:

  • Coordination of Capacity Building Services
  • Community Development Career Navigation Model
  • Neighborhood Vitality Success Framework
  • Neighborhood Voice and Advocacy Framework
  • At least two city-CDO funded partnerships

Simultaneously we will:

  • Activate the System Capitalization element
  • Establish a governance/oversight structure
  • Develop a process to resolve CDO coverage for all neighborhoods

2021 Show Me the Money Day Host Site Application is Now Open!

August 14, 2020 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

CEDAM members reached more than 2,300 Michigan residents during the 2020 Show Me the Money Day (SMTMD) season. Are you interested in bringing an event to your community? Applications are now open to become a 2021 SMTMD host site!

What is Show Me the Money Day?

Show Me The Money Day is a community event featuring free and low-cost financial products, resources, financial workshops, and fun. CEDAM members host events annually across Michigan from January to April to kick off tax season and promote opportunities for financial empowerment.

New event formats for 2021

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, CEDAM would like to introduce a new set of event guidelines to help you plan your 2021 Show Me the Money Day event.

Prior to March 2020, all Show Me the Money Events were required to be hosted in-person; moving forward host sites may offer the following four event formats:

  • In-person
  • Virtual
  • Hybrid
  • Informational Campaign

Please reference the 2021 SMTMD Event Guideline Supplemental for more information. Check out their recent blog post to see how 2020 host sites are managing these new formats.

What else is new with SMTMD?

They have made several changes to SMTMD that they want you to be aware of before you renew your application:

  • Your event may be held between January 1 and April 16
  • Host site training will be held virtually
  • All events must provide a primary and a contingency event outline (see application for details)
  • Mini-grant applications will be provided separately, starting in October 2020
  • Tools and training to give organizations the opportunity to create their own host site marketing materials
