Where have we been?

Where have we been?

Where are we now?

Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3

Phase 1 (2016)

We recruited stakeholders to analyze the problem, created a beginning set of system elements, and began considering a framework for a Detroit community development system.

Phase 2 (2017-2018)

We formed an Advisory Council, conducted extensive research resulting in a specific set of challenges and created Task Forces to respond to those challenges and develop test-projects for most of the elements.

Phase 3 (2019-2020)

Stakeholders will champion elements of the system, working closely with CDOs and GROs, by “test-piloting” project ideas:

  • Coordination of Capacity Building Services
  • Community Development Career Navigation Model
  • Neighborhood Vitality Success Framework
  • Neighborhood Voice and Advocacy Framework
  • At least two city-CDO funded partnerships

Simultaneously we will:

  • Activate the System Capitalization element
  • Establish a governance/oversight structure
  • Develop a process to resolve CDO coverage for all neighborhoods

BY FEB 19: CEDAM’s Upcoming RFPs

February 19, 2021

From CEDAM:

The Community Economic Development Association of Michigan (CEDAM) is soliciting proposals for three different CEDAM projects and initiatives: Real Estate Development Boot Camp Curriculum Development; Assessing Nonprofit Capacity Needs in Michigan; and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Hiring Training. More information about each RFP is outlined below.

Real Estate Development Boot Camp Curriculum Development

CEDAM has hosted its signature Real Estate Development Boot Camp training for more than 20 years. The goal of this training is to equip community development practitioners and other stakeholders with the tools needed to successfully develop affordable housing in Michigan. While the training has taken various forms, CEDAM, as well as our funders and other stakeholders, have identified the need to expand the scope of the training to better meet the needs of our members and our communities. We are soliciting proposals from firms or independent contractors qualified to provide curriculum development technical assistance and support for CEDAM’s Real Estate Development training.

Please contact Emily Reyst with any questions.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Hiring Training

CEDAM’s AmeriCorps members and community development fellows serve at CEDAM member organizations across the state. We are seeking a consultant to create and facilitate a training curriculum that will increase the inclusivity of our host sites’ hiring and onboarding process.

Please contact Sarah Teater with any questions.
