 Kresge Innovative Projects: Detroit Plus

Apply between Thursday, November 18, 2021 and Friday, January 14, 2022

Applications are now open for KIP:D+! The goal of the KIP:D+ grant program is to fund transformative neighborhood projects that support the vision, creativity and priorities of Detroit, Hamtramck and Highland Park residents.

Get ready!

Want to learn more about KIP:D+? Sign up for a virtual information session! Information sessions will provide an overview of what grants are available, information on who can apply, and walk you through the application process. There will also be time to ask questions of Co.act Detroit, Michigan Community Resources and Kresge Foundation staff. There will be two live sessions on:

For those who are unable to attend either live virtual session, recordings will be available following the sessions at coactdetroit.org/KIPD.

Here are a few things you can do to get ready to apply:

  1. Create an account on Submittable, our grant application and reporting software.
    • Use the email address of your organization’s key contact who will manage all grant applications and related inquiries
    • If you experience any technical difficulties with your application, contact support@submittable.com
  2. Start thinking about your project budget
  3. Get inspired: Learn about past KIP:D+ grantees and their projects here!
  4. Start brainstorming about how to talk about your organization’s history of serving your community, clear goals for your project, and how it will impact those you serve.
    • KIP:D+ looks for applicants that have a history working within the communities they serve. Projects that have clear and distinct goals and will provide a meaningful impact on the quality of life for Detroit, Highland Park, and Hamtramck residents are the most competitive.
  5. Ask questions: Are you a nonprofit but don’t have 501c3 status? Unsure about how to find the paperwork you need? Connect with Michigan Community Resources to discuss legal registration, fiduciary options or other application related questions you may have! Contact MCR here: askKIPD@mi-community.org.
